Commission

From 30 metres. We work back from yarn count, sample fifty centimetres, and only warp up once you have seen it in your own light.

Minimum run 30 metres, no floor on the number of colours. We work backwards from what the cloth has to do, rather than forwards from a colour card.

How it goes

  1. Tell us the use and the hand. A swatch is ideal. Failing that, “it should drape without going soft” is a perfectly good place to start.
  2. Settle the yarn. Count, twist, ply. This decides most of the handle before a single end is wound.
  3. Settle the structure. Plain for strength, twill for drape, satin for lustre. Figured work goes to draft development and carries its own lead time.
  4. Fifty centimetres of sample. Sent to you, to look at in your own light. If it is not right we go back to step two or three.
  5. Warp and weave. Once you have signed the sample off.

Lead times

Plain colours, standard structures: 10 working days to sample, 15 to 25 to deliver.
New figured work: 3 to 8 weeks of draft development, 2 weeks to sample, production on top.
Brocaded work: quoted by the metre, at forty to sixty centimetres a day.

On pricing

Quotes cover yarn, weaving, finishing and inspection. They do not cover carriage or duty. Short runs cost more per metre because warping, threading and sampling are fixed costs that have nowhere to spread — we itemise that separately rather than burying it in the metre rate.
